The importance of sound insulation and its role in the comfort of the homes under construction

Soundproofing is a key feature at ATENEO, helping to create a quiet and comfortable environment. The soundproofing process involves reducing sound transmission between rooms and apartments through the use of sound-absorbing materials and advanced technologies. High-quality materials are imported directly from Italy, sourced from leading manufacturers in the Italian market. This enhanced soundproofing allows residents to enjoy privacy and reduce stress caused by ambient noise, thereby improving their quality of life.

Types of Noise and Their Control Through Soundproofing

Noise enters apartments in various ways. To reduce this discomfort, we have implemented several soundproofing solutions, each effective against different types of noise:

• Impact noise: This type of noise, generated by footsteps, moving furniture, or other activities that cause vibrations in the building’s structure, is reduced by wrapping structural elements in a special membrane that prevents the propagation of vibrations between upper and lower floors. In addition, the masonry walls are placed on this sound-absorbing membrane to prevent noise transmission to neighboring apartments.
• Airborne noise: Airborne sounds, such as voices, music, or noise from televisions, are significantly reduced by doubling the masonry walls. Between the two layers of masonry, we have added very dense basalt wool, a material known for its sound-absorbing efficiency, which ensures high-quality sound insulation.
• External noise: In an urban environment, noise from traffic and other external sources can be a major problem. External sound insulation thus provides residents with a quiet and relaxing indoor environment.
• Noise from equipment/systems: Ventilation systems and pipes can generate constant noise. To mitigate this discomfort, we use sound-absorbing materials in critical areas and soundproof all system pipes, thereby reducing noise from these technical sources.

Before installing the underfloor heating, an additional membrane from the same manufacturer—technically referred to as a “soundproofing mat”—will be applied to enhance acoustic comfort.
